Dental
Assistant
Duties
and responsibilities:
A dental assistant works closely with a dentist during
dental procedures, handling such tasks as positioning the patient, handing the
dentist the tools he or she needs or ensuring that a patient's mouth is kept
dry by placing and removing suction hoses. Additional responsibilities of a
dental assistant include applying anesthetics to teeth or gums, preparing
materials needed to make dental impressions and placing dental dams.
Salary:
$34,900
Education:
There isn’t any type of formal
education required. Most of the time assistants have high school diploma, and
only receive on the job training. Dental assisting programs tend to last one
year for a diploma.
Reflection:
I would not like to be dentist
assistants, because you get paid a little bit of money. Enough to suit your
self. An I don’t want to be seeing people’s teeth and smelling bad breath.
