Health Sciences Librarian
Duties and responsibility:
Medical
librarians that are information specialist who provide assistance in finding
medical documents. Clinical trials, medical treatments or procedures, as well
as other pertinent information that applies to the medical industry are common
documents sought after by these librarians. There are also specialized in using
databases and references materials to conduct researched for medical
information.
Salary: $55,690
Education:
Medical
Librarians should have a strong background in science. To become a Medical
Librarian you must complete a Master of Library and Information Science degree
from a school accredited by the American Library Association (ALA).Many Medical
Librarians continue to study for Ph.D.’s as more senior positions require a
doctorate as a perquisite. Medical Librarians can complete continuing education
and training to stay up to date in their field. Some Medical Librarians also
have doctor of medicine degrees, many stay in education throughout their
careers, and even into retirement.
Reflection:
I
would not like to be a medical librarian because it’s to much of you just
sitting around job. Like you just sit on a desk all day. I want to be moving
around. So this job isn’t suited for me.
