                                   Optician
Duties and Responsibility:
Opticians are eye care professionals who selected and fit contracts and eyeglasses for patients. Optician also is responsible for using precision equipment to measure various eye features including cornel thickness and pupil distance. After an ophthalmologist writes a prescription, they take measurements of your eye to determine how you would look with a glass eye, and how it would affect your life style. They also suggest on frames shapes and styles and color. They can also be required to do front desk duties. For example they may have to fill out insurance claims.
Salary: $33,770 - $40,772
Education:
Educational requirement would be an associate or Bachelor’s degree. Optician offer courses in anatomy and physiology of the human eye, and optical fundamental and refraction. They have clinical training and have opportunity to learn polishing and hand beveling. You must also get licensed. And in some states you require that you pass a practical or written examination.  You may also need to be certified by the American Board of Optician and National Contact Lens Examiners.
Reflection: Do you think you will like to be one?  Why? Why not?
To be honest I wouldn’t want to be an optician because it pays a little as your annual salary. And there is a lot of measuring and calculating involved. An how you have to get certified and license is too much work, plus you have to also pass an examination or practical. So I am not interested in being an optician.
